BeHerVillage Partners with The Best Gift PSA for Postpartum Support Baby Registries

During Black Maternal Health Week, an important new campaign is asking a simple but powerful question: what if the best baby gift was actually support for the mother?

 

 

We are proud to share that BeHerVillage is the featured baby registry partner for The Best Gift PSA, a new public service announcement campaign created to encourage families and friends to support Black mothers with practical help during pregnancy and postpartum.

 

The campaign was created by public health expert and filmmaker Elizabeth Gray Bayne, MPH, MFA, with support from the L.A. Care GAAINS Initiative, and centers on the real-life support that can help reduce preventable complications during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

The Best Gift PSA launches as Black Maternal Health Week begins and draws attention to a serious public health issue. Black women in the United States are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than women of other racial groups, and more than 80 percent of pregnancy-related deaths are considered preventable. The campaign focuses on immediate, community-level actions families and friends can take to better support mothers during pregnancy and postpartum.

 

That focus is one of the reasons we are so honored to be part of this launch. Awareness matters, but action matters too. When loved ones ask how they can help, they need a clear answer. BeHerVillage helps turn that intention into something tangible.

 

One of the hardest parts of postpartum support is that people often want to help, but they do not know how.
