About Sunshine Mama Doula Care

Bio

As a doula, Reiki Master and wellness warrior, I am on a mission to empower women with the emotional, physical and spiritual support they need to step into their power during this miraculous journey called "womanhood." My strategies extend beyond advocacy for birthing women; it's about education, encouragement and creating a space where clients can have a conscious and empowered lived experience. My mantra- You are powerful beyond measure!

Q&A

What locations or areas do you serve?

I serve the greater Houston area and am willing to travel to provide support to those within an hour of the city center.

Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)

I specialize in birth center and home births which typically require more hands on support since there are fewer medical staff engaged in the birth.

What are your certifications and trainings?

I am a twice certified doula of 15 years through International Center For Traditional Childbearing and Commonsense Childbirth and Midwifery- The JJ Way. I am also trained in Spinning Babies as a parent educator.

What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

My top advice to moms is to choose your birth team and follow your intuition when it comes to who makes you feel seen, heard and safe. That will be crucial in your ability to trust your providers and yourself when you are in the most vulnerable state you'll ever be in- childbirth and delivery.

How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

My job is to make sure both parents are comfortable with the birth process, feel seen and heard in the delivery room and know their rights to receive excellent care. I encourage all partners to be present and active in the birth of their child.
