Bio

My name is Michaela Alston & I’m a mother of 2 beautiful boys. I live in Newport News with my husband of 7 years. I’ve been doing postpartum meal prep for moms in my area for about a year and wanted to expand my experience, knowledge and understanding of the birth-work world by becoming a Doula. Healing your body through nutrition after housing a human in your womb is one of the most important aspects, besides mental health, postpartum.

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: After experiencing two traumatic births myself I decided something had to change. Parents, especially mothers, deserve to be felt, heard and listened to while bringing life earth-side. I’m here to support, encourage and assist in whatever you need during this precious journey.

Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

A: Two are a couple but three are a team. I am there to support them as well! I’ll be teaching them breathing techniques and laboring positions right along with you. I will never take the place of your partner.
