Bio

Hi there, I'm Kris Elle. Mother of Five, Birth Continuum Guide, Certified Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor®, and Founder of Mother of Ease. My private practice is intimately inspired by and devoted to the centering and advancement of safe keeping, space holding, rest promoting, and joy flowing for Black women and their kin/folk. Futhermore, I offer my support to folks of color and those who desire guidance beyond the standard American birthing continuum support experience.

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: Where and who I've come from, who I've grown to be, who and what I love deeply - propels me into and through my work as a birth continuum guide and doula for parents-to-be. I believe that Black mothers-to-be and Black fathers-to-be deserve thoughtful people and places, designed exclusively for soft-landing and the elevation of joy.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: Your journey to motherhood is unique. And your motherhood is uniquely yours. No one gets to define how you feel about it, how you interact with it, how you work through it - but you. With that in mind, find your own way in your motherhood based on what you and your family need, and welcome people and rhythms in your life that lift and support that.

Q: How much experience do you have?

A: After 15 years of personal navigating of the childbearing continuum, my professional doula journey emerged in 2021. It has delivered me as a guide through gentle and robust rhythms of vaginal births, and thoughtful considerations of both medical and natural inductions, to the delicate and challenging details of planned or unplanned cesarean births.

Q: What are your certifications and trainings?

A: Certified Doula (CD) - Mama Glow Professional Doula Training Program, Novant Health Verified Doula, ALPP Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC), Mama Glow Foundation First Foods Justice Community Lactation Educator Scholarship Recipient and Advocate.

Q: Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)

A: My work is dedicated to and for Black women and families - however and wherever they choose to birth and journey.
