Bio

Hello, I'm Sam! I'm a Certified Postpartum Doula (CD-PIC) in Metro Detroit. My mission is to ease your transition into life with a new baby, by supporting your emotional, physical, and relational recovery from birth. What postpartum support looks like is as unique as each family I serve! Having a non-judgemental person to lean on helps moms + families feel empowered to thrive during this time, not just survive.

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: I have two sons, and their birth/postpartum journeys were incredibly different. With my second, I had a doula and it was a very empowering and transformative experience for me. After feeling firsthand the profound impact of having a doula, I felt a strong calling to continue this work and help build a village in my community.

Q: What are your certifications and trainings?

A: I am trained and certified through ProDoula as a Postpartum and Infant Care doula. I am also trained through ProDoula as a Postpartum Placenta Specialist.

Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

A: This is not an uncommon concern! I view postpartum support as more of a team approach and I am just another player being added to the roster, instead of taking anyone's spot. The partner's role is vital, and I want to do all I can to help you navigate this unpredictable time together.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: Throw expectations out the window. Prepare as much as possible by becoming informed and remaining open to accepting help. Postpartum is hard (whether it's your first baby or your fourth!) but you don't need to do it alone.
