About Loli Doula

Bio

The road my husband, Jeff and I traveled to parenthood could make a good riddle. How do we have six children after two pregnancies and a vbac with multiples and the grief of infant loss, while not fitting into the category of a “typical” or “blended” family? Is “typical” still a thing? It’s a long story that I’d love to share with you. But the point is: I GET IT. Families can be very messy and parenting takes so many different forms. Whatever your path has been to this beautiful an

Q&A

Q: What are your certifications and trainings?

A: I am certified through Childbirth International, have my AZ fingerprint clearance card and am infant CPR and first aid certified.

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: "What is a postpartum doula?" That’s what I asked when my friends Joeley—a birth doula, and Hannah—a midwife, said “you should be a postpartum doula!” They saw in me a love of women and a desire to support and care for them. I'm a helper at heart and love to encourage parents in their role. You've got this!

Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

A: I don't replace anyone - I enhance everyone. I want to create space for parents to bond with baby and they can do that while I tame the kitchen, change the sheets, wash the bottles, etc. They can nap while I cuddle/feed/watch baby. How do you "sleep while the baby sleeps?" Hire a postpartum doula! You can do it, I can help.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: Don't only focus on the birth - plan for the postpartum! I can give you prompts to foster conversations that reveal your exceptions - you have them whether you know it or not. Plan for food, visitors, rest, family expectations....and joy. Knowing what you want and the support you desire is so important!
