About Courtney Weaver
Bio
I am a mother of five and a birth doula with Empowered Holistic Birth. We are a doula group made up of mothers led by faith and passionate about birth! I earned my birth doula certification through Childbirth International and am also certified in neonatal resuscitation. It is my absolute joy to be able to walk alongside women as they discover what their bodies are capable of doing, and to offer the support that I wish I had known during the intense and transformative work of birth.
Q&A
Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?
A: I began my journey into birth work after learning that I was pregnant for the 7th time and wanting to find healing for myself and others who have experienced traumatic birth. My births could have been so empowering had a doula providing me with informational, emotional, and physical support. Providing that support to birthing mothers is my passion!
Q: What locations or areas do you serve?
A: Any hospital or home birth within an hour of Penn Hills, PA. (Forbes, Jefferson, West Penn, St. Clair, Magee, Washington, Heritage Valley: Sewickley, Heritage Valley: Beaver, Butler, and The Midwife Center)
Q: How much experience do you have?
A: I have been attending births since May, 2023. I have had the honor of supporting 36 women and families at 5 different areas hospitals, the Midwife Center for Birth and Women's Health, and many beautiful home births.
Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?
A: Ask yourself what your beliefs and values are about birth. What do you want to remember about your birth when you look back on it? What would a bad experience feel like to you? What are your greatest fears about birth? Go in with your eyes wide open, don't shy away from hard questions, and then form a birth team and vision around those answers!
