About Elena the Doula

Bio

I grew up bilingual, speaking German and Italian, which sparked my love for connecting with people and led me to an MA in translation studies. As a translator, I learned to bridge gaps—skills that now guide my work as a doula. I completed birth and postpartum doula trainings and have supported many families through their postpartum journey. Inspired by the German 'Wochenbett' tradition, which emphasizes rest and bonding, I am dedicated to helping families navigate their transition to parenthood.

Q&A

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: I noticed a significant lack of support during the fourth trimester when my friends started having babies, and this gap became even more apparent after I became a mother myself. These experiences drew me to work with parents-to-be, to ensure they receive the care and resources they need during this crucial time of transition.

Q: What are your certifications and trainings?

A: I completed birth and postpartum doula workshops and am currently certifying through DONA International. I am committed to continuing education, so I am also doing specialized training in lactation education and sleep counseling. This ongoing learning allows me to provide the most informed and supportive care to the families I work with.

Q: What locations or areas do you serve?

A: I primarily serve families within 10 miles of the 98103 area, ensuring I can provide consistent and timely support.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: So many people will offer you advice, but remember this: You are the best mother for your child! Trust your instincts and know that you have what it takes to nurture and care for your baby. Lean on your support system, but always come back to what feels right for you and your little one.

Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

A: I completely understand those concerns! My goal is to support the entire family, not replace anyone. I am here to help everyone bond and adjust to this new chapter. By providing guidance and reassurance, I aim to empower both you and your partner with the confidence to navigate parenthood together.
