Birth Doulas

As your birth doula, I am committed to providing you and your loved ones with educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual support during your pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum journey. My role is to advocate with you and empower you in expressing your needs and preferences. In addition to my birth doula package, I also offer a highly customizable postpartum doula package. I am currently completing a second doula certification with The Commonsense Childbirth Institute, where I am being trained in The JJ Way® framework. During this time I will be offering low cost services on a sliding scale based on an agreement made between me and the client(s). Please feel free to ask me for more information.

About Doula Alchemist Healing

Bio

Doula Alchemist Healing is a Black, Queer and Non-Binary owned healing practice. My inspiration comes from my mother’s birthing narrative and having witnessed her navigate reproductive healthcare as a fiercely resilient single, Black mother. I completed my Full Spectrum Doula certification with Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings. I am also receiving mentorship from the Commonsense Childbirth Institute and being trained in The JJ Way®, an evidence-based framework to reduce birth disparities.

Q&A

What are your certifications and trainings?

In addition to my training with Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings and the Commonsense Childbirth Institute, I also completed an “Herbal Medicine Making for Birth Support” course with Hood Herbalism, a BIPOC community herbal education space that decentralizes colonial ways of understanding plant knowledge. I offer herbal education with my services.

How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

As a doula, I am here to serve as a grounding presence for you, your partner, and your loved ones. I will provide education on comfort measures, support strategies, and child birth to any partner or loved ones who will be a part of your birthing experience. I will also work to understand your partners need to support them during the experience too.

What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

I have worked in reproductive justice policy and advocacy for several years before becoming a doula. I was drawn to this work from the recounting of my mother's birthing experience along with the many narratives that have been shared. I feel called to serve as a grounding presence to create more empowering experiences.

Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)

In my healing practice I am committed to uplifting reproductive justice for everyone. Because of my personal background and professional and community experiences, I center Black, Indigenous, people of color, queer and trans people, disabled people, and people living with HIV in my work.
