About Courageous Moments

Bio

After my daughter was born, I was moved by the importance of having a community during postpartum. Navigating a new world of caring for myself and my baby showed me how incredible and beautiful the journey of having a baby is, including all of the hard parts. We struggled with feeding the beginning, which drove my passion to become a lactation counselor and help other families to breastfeed. I am a postpartum doula and lactation counselor and I trained with CBI (Childbirth International).

Q&A

Q: What locations or areas do you serve?

A: I serve Oswego and Onondaga counties in Central New York. I also offer virtual support to families who are hoping to have postpartum doula support and/or breastfeeding support but aren't looking for support in person.

Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?

A: Postpartum is a time of growth and healing for you and. your partner. My role is to support all members of your family as you grow and adjust to having a new baby. I can help you and your partner to learn together and connect during postpartum, so that you are able to have more space to connect with each other.

Q: How much experience do you have?

A: I am a certified elementary school teacher, and after my daughter was born I found a new passion in helping families with new babies. I completed my trainings in early 2024, and am currently working toward completing my certification requirements, which include working with families.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: Trust yourself and your instincts. You know how to do this, and you know your baby best. Trust what feels best and what works for you and your family, and don't be afraid to try things until you know what works best, and to change them again when that doesn't work anymore.

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: My personal experience with pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding drew me into working with parents and parents-to-be. I am excited to support families as they grow and I am passionate about sharing evidence based information with families so that they can make decisions about their journey and their new baby.
