About Carol Eddy
Bio
I have had the privilege of birthing 10 babies myself and am now enjoying passing on what I know to my daughters. When my daughter-in-law had a negative experience during Covid with support removed from her in the hospital, I decided to pursue the birth doula role so that I was up to date and skilled to help others.
Q&A
Q: What are your certifications and trainings?
A: I am certified through DONA. CD(DONA) and the VBAC link, as well as Spinning Babies.
Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?
A: It’s important to know that you have choices. While Homebirth lends itself to that very nicely, you also can choose or refuse hospital protocols. But, in order to do that you as the mom need to be informed and I can help with that.
Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?
A: Often the partner hesitates because they feel they may be pushed aside. As your doula, I am there to serve you both. We will get to know each other and that way I will know how much participation your partner wants. I am there to serve you both.
Q: Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)
A: I am most familiar with home birth. That was where I chose to birth myself. However, birth center and hospital births can also be places where you are most comfortable and that is the real key.
