About Bearing Brightly
Bio
I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the world of birth, focusing on the amazing humans bringing new life into the world, and supporting them throughout their journeys. After a career in graphic design and photography, and a personal struggle with infertility and pregnancy loss, I became a foster, adoptive, and (unexpectedly!) a bio mom. My own pregnancy and postpartum challenges highlighted for me the vital role of perinatal support. I'd love to support you as your doula and photograper!
Q&A
Q: What are your certifications and trainings?
A: Birth Doula Training, DONA International Postpartum Doula Training, DONA International Breastfeeding for Doulas, Jessica Day Birth Becomes You - Birth Photography Certification (currently enrolled)
Q: What locations or areas do you serve?
A: I serve within 45 miles/1 hour of Pleasant Ridge, MI. The majority of my service area is within Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties, but I am able to serve Livingston county as well.
Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?
A: Learn all you can! Knowledge about your options and what may come can empower you to make informed decisions about the care you want to receive. I can help you be aware of your options, and provide judgement-free support you as you decide what choices are best for you and your family!
Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?
A: That is totally understandable! But I'm not here to replace your partner. In fact, you are more likely to have a more satisfying birth if you and your partner feel connected during birth. I can help your partner with ideas of how to best support you, and I'll also support your partner by ensuring they get rest, nourishment, and encouragement too!
Q: Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)
A: I have a heart's desire to support those who are pregnant and in the foster care system, who are expecting and intending adoption for their baby, or who have experienced fertility struggles or pregnancy loss. I love home births (especially when also providing birth photography!), but happily support at birthing centers and hospitals too!
