I left my position in a traditional insurance-based clinic because I was tired of cutting corners. I loved being in the exam room with my patients - learning their stories, helping them understand illnesses, and watching them grow. I was exhausted though by the pace of 15 minute appointments all day. I left to open Awesome Possum Pediatrics - my own clinic where hour long appointments are standard, I get to know each of my patients and their families and provide them the care they deserve.

Q: What are your certifications and trainings?

A: I am board certified in Pediatrics. After earning my MD from Creighton School of Medicine, I completed pediatric residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. American Board of Pediatrics certification requires 100+ hours of continuing medical education and testing every 5 years to stay up to date on pediatric care. I actually love the learning!

Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?

A: I love working with infants and new parents! Reviewing a new parent's list of questions is one of my favorite parts of clinic visits. So much in Pediatrics is preventative care. I love being able to provide continuity of care as infants and families grow. Getting to be with families from the beginning is truly an honor.

Q: Are there any specialities in who you serve? (e.g. home birth, VBAC, etc.)

A: I provide pediatric care for children as newborns until after they graduate from high school. I would love to be along offering guidance for the entire ride - from the first prenatal meet-and-greet to the talk about transitioning to an "adult provider" and all the great steps along the way. But your welcome to join anywhere along the way.

Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?

A: You got this! Babies and kids are amazingly resilient. Their needs are pretty simple - protection, nutrition, love, and attention. The other details are just noise. Enjoy being with your tiny human.
