Changing The Way We Baby Shower

One is to support mamas throughout her journey into motherhood, and another is to majorly shake up the way we do all things birth, pregnancy, and postpartum-- including baby showers!

 

Watching someone (even if it’s your sister or best friend) open all the gifts that she already knows she’s getting. If anybody tells you they don’t check their registry apps to see who has bought what, they’re lying. People go to baby showers to socialize, to see the glow on mama-to-be, to touch her belly, for the treats, and for the mimosas (or other fun drink in a fancy cup). It’s time we skip the pile of gifts and stick to the good stuff.

 

Support like a doula, a massage therapist, or someone who will clean your house every Wednesday until your newborn is four months old. As it would be unethical to wrap up a massage therapist in pink and blue wrapping paper, there will be no portion of your baby shower where you’re forced to sit in a rocking chair and unwrap gifts in front of an audience. Your shower can be about you and your growing family. You can eat, relax, hug your family and friends. You will be showered with love and support, rather than showered with gifts that you might end up returning.
