Bio
I am a prenatal/postpartum movement coach who helps train parents to be for birth and supports post partum clients on their recovery (special shout out to C-section parents!) and return to fitness + active pursuits.
Q&A
Q: What drew you into working with parents-to-be?
A: I have two sons (7 years apart) who had drastically different births. I can see the lack of support given to birthing parents after their 6 week checkup and its impact on physical + emotional well being. It's time to create a better system for birth recovery to help folks navigate this major transition effectively.
Q: What are your certifications and trainings?
A: I am a NASM-certified personal trainer with a specialization in corrective exercise. Additionally, I hold a cert from Pronatal FItness, which works directly on prenatal + postpartum training for active lifestyles. I am a member of Perinatal Partner + also am the co-facilitator of Chamber of Mothers, a national advocacy org for moms.
Q: What locations or areas do you serve?
A: I work (IRL) primarily through NW Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, and offer virtual training, which can be helpful early postpartum when It can be hard to get out. I try to make my classes, workshops and training opportunities as accessible as possible.
Q: What's your top piece of advice for an expectant mom?
A: Create the support team you want as well as you can. Be firm in your boundaries and know your rights.
Q: How do you answer the question: "I want your support but my partner feels like they'll be replaced"?
A: Your partner is a grown up and about to become a parent--there's plenty of work for them to do and they can manage their feelings with honest communication and conversation about splitting household duties. Having a neutral third party can also help navigate those tough convos about this enormous change for your family!
