My name is Cassie, I’m a Postpartum Doula and I'm very passionate about supporting families and the mother, especially during the Fourth Trimester.
It is a very sacred, and special time in which I believe families need the most support. This time can be especially difficult for new mothers who don't have any close friends or family around to help. “All too often, the mom comes home from the hospital and everyone wants to see the baby, and the focus goes to the baby, not the mother.” She often becomes invisible. My job as a Postpartum Doula is to make sure that doesn't happen. Postpartum Doulas are not medical providers. We are there to take care of the mother emotionally and physically. We “mother the mother”, and really focus on nurturing her as well as tending to her needs.
Postpartum Doulas help new parents with the transition into parenthood.
- We encourage, empower, and educate new parents to feel confident and make sure they have the tools to get off to a great start
- Postpartum Doulas can assist with breastfeeding, as well as all infant feeding choices
- We create age appropriate routines and healthy sleep habits
- We can provide you with light meal prep, light cleaning, and grocery runs for necessities
- We also provide overnight visits, so you and your partner can get adequate sleep
Postpartum Doulas are educated to recognize the signs of postpartum anxiety and perinatal mood disorders
We help new moms know how normal this is. Postpartum Doulas can help mothers get the extra mental health support if and when they need it. We can provide you with local resources and referrals. Mothers in today's society are under extreme stress and pressure to, “do it all”. They can feel judged and criticized if they choose to go back to work right away, or if they choose to stay home.
Postpartum Doulas can be a great support system, a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on while a new mom navigates some of these hard choices.
